In 2023, the beginning of this geologic time was defined based on core samples found at the meromictic Lake Crawford in Ontario. An early start to this geologic time is proposed by the (-5[1])Ruddiman hypothesis. One proposed start to this geologic time is at the “Orbis Spike” caused by increased plant growth in the Americas. A Working Group named for this geologic time included Paul Crutzen, who coined the term for it in a (*) 2000 newsletter. The “Great Acceleration” is often (10[1])considered to have begun alongside the start of this epoch. According to one definition, this epoch began with the presence of plutonium found in soils from around 1950. For 10 (10[1])points, name this proposed (10[1])epoch of geological time after the Holocene, defined by dramatic human impact on the Earth’s climate. ■END■
