A Herodotus passage helped identify two kourai (“KOO-rye”) from this place as Kleobis and Biton. A marble sphinx (-5[1])at this site is inscribed with a declaration that gives the right of promanteia to the people of Naxos. A statue of a man holding reins is the so-called (*) “Charioteer of [this place].” The Siphnian Treasury and Athenian Treasury were built to house (-5[1])votive offerings at this (10[1])place, (10[1])which names a set of hymns by Athenaeus and Limenius.
