A miscarriage suffered by the composer’s wife, Victoria Kamhi, may have inspired this concerto’s second movement (15[1])theme beginning [read slowly] “F-sharp, E, long F-sharp,” first stated by the English horn. Antonio Soler inspired the (15[1])hemiolas in this concerto, whose blind composer was awarded the title of marquis for depicting a (*) hunting resort’s gardens.
