These devices generate entities that are characterized in the FROG and SPIDER techniques. A technique using these devices was popularized by a paper on the dissociation of cyanogen (15[1])iodide. The state of a reaction is studied using so-called “pumps” and “probes” supplied by these devices in a spectroscopy technique.
