Frank Baines reinforced this location’s roof after a death-watch beetle infestation damaged the work of Hugh Herland and Henry Yevele (“YEE-vell”) in a room filled with a “white hart” emblem. A three-stage staircase based on Bernini’s Scala Regia was designed for this location by John Soane (-5[1])after the death of James Wyatt.
