This figure is the dedicatee of the Pancharatna Kritis (“PUN-chuh-rut-nuh KRIT-tees”) and other Telugu-language Carnatic songs by Tyāgarāja (“TYAH-guh-rah-juh”). An Avadhī (“UH-vuh-dee”)-language poem about this figure (10[1])is staged during a nine-night festival to Durgā founded by this figure called Navarātrī. A devotee of this figure is honored in a chālīsā (10[1])by Tulsīdās. Effigies of this figure’s enemies are burned on Dashahrā (“DUH-sheh-rah”) or Vijayadashamī (“VIJ-juh-yuh-DUH-shuh-mee”) after folk reenactments of this figure’s life called līlā.
