Charles Robin transported people from this ethnic group to the fishing community of Chéticamp (SHET-ee-KAHM). The Chiac language was developed by some of these people who may have lived in Shediac. An event that impacted this ethnic group occurred after the Battle of Fort Beauséjour on the Isthmus of Chignecto.
