In this piece, the repeated pizzicato string motif (read slowly) “D-flat, B-flat, E-flat, B-flat” leads into a passage where (20[1])the (20[1])orchestra repeatedly plays a (20[1])stacked E-flat dominant 7th chord over (20[2])an F-flat major chord with seemingly (20[2])random accents. A (20[1])series of “Rounds” in this work is meant to accompany (20[1])the khorovod.
